December is here which means it’s time for End of Year Planning

Tell me, how has another year has passed and somehow we’re already in December?

If you’ve been part of the Top Broker Community for a while now, you may remember last year that I wrote about how at the beginning and end of each year, I take time to reflect on what I’ve achieved, what I need to change and what my goals moving forward are. What have you achieved this year, has it been a big year for you?

Set some time aside to tie up the loose ends and get ready to organise your to-do list with some end of year planning.

Keep your information secure

Seeing as the new year is a new start for most, it’s time to update your systems with cloud-based processes, instead of relying on a single hard drive or computer to store it all. Cloud-based software saves data to an online server so that no matter where you go, you’ll always be able to access your information.

I use Synology, but DropBox is another more well known one.

Do your filing

While it may not be the end of financial year, the mid-financial year is just as important. Use this time to organise your receipts that need filing and check up on your financials to make sure you haven’t fallen behind or missed anything.

Check in with your accountant

With another year coming to a close, book an appointment with your accountant to go through your business plan for the new year and how it aligns with your financial goals. Tax advice and payments required are also important to be revisited so that you can figure out any tax-saving opportunities too.

Say thank you to referral partners

Believe me when I say there have been a number of people involved in the success of our business this year, and I’m sure the same goes for you? This means the holiday season is the perfect time to say thank you for working together. Show referral partners your appreciation through something as simple as a thank you card, phone call, email or drink after work. This personal touch makes all the difference and will mean that you can really hit the ground running in the new year together.

Keep these tips in mind so that you can hit the ground running in the new year and if you need a bit of extra help, check out our tips and free resources here.

Tell me, what are your goals for 2018?

Cheers,
